Parents- would you send your 3rd-5th grader to a week long summer camp?

This is my opinion.

If i new my child was responsible enough and could take care of him self well enough, yes i would send him, he needs time away from his parents as a kid, even if overnight with no one i really know. I trust my son enough to do that. About the camp being runed by 16-17y.o.'s it matters if i know any of them and think there responsible. I mean if there all punks or rude hormone raging teenagers there is no way i'm sending my kid, but if there kind caring average teenagers i see no reason why not send my son.

When my son was in 5th grade he had a weekend trip (friday to tuesday type thing) with the school camping, it was 3 teaches and 6 seniors (17/18/19 year olds), and i knew 2 of the seniors because they were my nephews, and the rest of them seemed kind enough, so i was glad to send my kid to it. He came back in one of the happiest times i've ever seen him.

Do what you feel is right for your child.

Here's the catch- kind of... would you send your child if the camp was planned by a 17 year old, and the counselors would all be 16-17 years old? There would obviously be adults there, probably about the same number as the teenage counselors to act as the nurse, lifeguard, etc. Please give me your honest answer because this is for my girl scout gold award project!! Thank you so much!!

Oh, and the camp would be an overnight camp.

I'm a bit confused luv. Is it a week long camp or overnight camp?
If it's a week, to be honest, I don't think my 4th grade daughter would last away from home that long. I don't have a problem with the age of the counselors because younger children will often relate better with older teens, and as you say adults will be there.
I guess it would depend on the child.
Good luck with it though.
