Paranormal Activity, pah !

The original trailer just had the screen shot of the room.

Then the next one had a screenshot with writing backwarRAB in the mirror.

then next one the writing was gone and so was the baby

and finally this one everything is weird, the final shot shows a distorted kate holding the baby if you look very closely.

I thought it was pretty scary. I don't think I could watch it again and i'm in no rush to see the sequel. It obviously just preys on some people's fears more than others. The element that scared me was the idea that there was absolutely nothing they could do. Whatever it was wanted her and you could tell the attacks were just getting more and more severe and it was only going to get worse. The only part I found strange was that the main character's would be fast asleep every night. If it was me I'd be sitiing in bed wide awake a nervous wreck waiting for it to come and scare the life out of me. Don't know how they both managed to sleep so well.

I also saw it on DVD in my own home, which I think is scarier than at the cinema because you're in the environment that the film is set in, plus I went straight to bed after it had finished but I can't say i slept very well!

a couple of days after watching it i was lying asleep when i suddenly heard a bang. got out of bed, grabbed baseball bat and proceeded to go out of the bedroom feeling very nervous indeed. as i passed the bathroom i noticed that the piece of string which turns on the lights was swinging. i looked around and noticed the source of the noise... for some reason the attic hatch had somehow managed to work its way loose and it had swung open.... but it totally brough back the scene in the film with the attic.... freaked me out. took a while to get back to sleep after that!

Just noticed 2 new things

When kate appears in the doorway the baby is in the mirror, where every other time the baby is missing from the room and the mirror.

When rewinding the film an image of a person standing in orange is visable

added, let the video almost play out and hold the time bar and slowly go back until you see the orange image then go very slow back some more and a new flashing section will appear which shows the baby in muliptle shots with another woman and a scary voice

just watched the trailer for #2 again and the writing at the end of it is gone, now its a still shot of the room with the baby in the cot in the mirror but not in the room

Just saw this on DVD and i thought it was good. Quite creepy. On the whole this was more of a subtle horror pic, with not that many "jump out of your skin" moments, not until the end anyway.

A bit of philosophy: I see the reaction here is the standard one. Some folk thought the film was scary, some not. I haven't ever seen a film which was universally acclaimed as scary. Not even such masterpieces as the Exorcist, Blair Witch or the Japanese version of Ring. I think this is because we all have different psychological make-ups. Even if a horror film is recommended by a lot of people, the only way you can be sure it will do the trick for you is to go and see it.
