When I get a bike, I don't want to wear a traditional, boring (and expensive) helmet. So I decided to make a Mega Man helmet. So far, I have made a sturdy frame out of many layers of cardboard, paper and thin hard plastic held together with industrial quality white glue. The shape and size are perfect and the frame is fairly stiff (~ 1/3" thick). Now I'm looking a simple recipe for paper mache glue that will make the helmet hard and resistant to damage. The design still needs more "soft" layers for flexibility (and to protect my head). Would you recommend a cloth layer? I'm very excited by how well the project is going and I look forward to posting pictures of the final product. I also eagerly anticipate the attention it will draw when I'm out riding my bike.
