Pan's Labyrinth, Is It Really Wonderful?

It's better than this espresso, and better than the time I fell asleep.

My only criticism is that there are a couple of parts that would give nightmares to a terrorist, let alone a child who accidentally watches this, thinking it's Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
 
Thanks for all the replies. It certainly sounRAB worth a try. I am renting from Lovefilm at the moment. I have put the Blu Ray version as high priority and hopefully will get it to watch this week.
 
I personally loved this film, even if it was subtitled my daughter was able to follow it and enjoy it as much as I did.

Now that is a good recommendation in its self, as my daughter is not usually into subtitled films, complicated story lines or the 'fantasy' style used in Pans. She's a chick flicks and popcorn type of girl, so even I was surprised she liked this film.
 
certainly worth a watch. I love it very much.

it brought me to tears in the cinema - the film only ever to do this. But of course - being a grown man - i could show such side of me!!

It is brilliant.

The director and writer Guillermo del Toro is the same guy who done all the hellboy films and blade 2. He also did the Orphanage which is AMAZING and very scary.

Pan labyrinth (or Laberinto del fauno, El as it is a spanish film) is superb. It is quite scary but worth it. It won 3 oscars.

Watch it. You wont be disappointed.
 
It's a beautiful film that I wanted to watch purely for the fantasy side, but upon watching it, was far more touched by the 'human' side of it. One of my favourite films in recent years. Not what I was expecting but all the more compelling for it.
 
Definitely watch it! I am a massive film fan with a huge, huge collection of many genres.
Pan's Labyrinth was beautiful, stunning, excellent story, sometimes very scary...I could go on.

I would say you're truly missing out if you miss this one :)
 
It's a great film. It's a shame if people are put off PL (or any other great foreign-language film) by the subtitles - there's an awful lot out there that is well-worth watching. I'd recommend Volver (another recent Spanish film) too.
 
I so agree with you about foreign-language films. I own, and have seen many, from all across the world, and I often find them much better than anything Hollywood comes up with.

I watched a lovely Swedish film a while ago called 'My Life As A Dog'. Well spent couple of hours :)
