Panasonic Lumix LX-3 SDHC card memory error?

Check the contacts on the card and make sure that they are clean.

Formatting a large card can take a few minutes, especially if there are any errors found.

Have you tried a different card?

This camera was introduced in July 2008 so is nearly two years old. I am surprised that they are still available.

My neighbor has one and it is a great camera.

SD and SDHC cards are rather inexpensive now, 8 gb for under $25, you need to keep at least one spare in your pocket in any case
 
My Lumix LX-3 keeps saying there's a memory error and asks to reformat but when I press ok, it gets stuck at "PLEASE WAIT..." with an hourglass turning underneath.

It seems i was supposed to format it before I use but the shop guy didn't tell me and it was working fine at the shop. What should I do? Get a new one? I got this one free as part as a package. Help please!
