It's really weird. Not all the way across the screen, just a smidge off centre. and it doesn't reach the top or bottom, it's just two bars, one black and one white, right next to each other.
Did I hit a setting of some sort or is it dead? I've searched google furiously and turned up nothing, so any help is awesome.

It is NOT a rear projection. It is a Plasma Model #- TH-50Z77U
The whole screen would be dead if the bulb went. This is just a small portion.
And no, Bulbs do not cost $1,200. They cost no more than $300.
Last time I checked, there isn't an LCD, LED or Plasma TV over 50" that costs LESS that $300
