Palm TX vs PPC

Hi All,

I am looking at getting a new PDA. I currently have a PPC. I think I want to try a Palm now. PPC is coming with a new version of Windows (which seems to be unstable).

How stable is the Palm TX? I will use it mainly for contacts and calendar.
I will strictly use Outlook. How does it sync with Outlook?

Also, on the PPC, there are Programs that will show me my calendar on the HOME page. You can set it for showing just today, the next 3 days, 5 days, or 7. Is there a program like that for Palm and if so, can I use it with Outlook?

Please let me know your overall opinion on the TX.

Thanks!!

Nick

Good choice in switching! :)

You might try WinLauncher, which will show you your calendar on your homepage. I can't give you a personal opinion on the T|X, but it looking to be a good solid unit from Palm since its release.

Palm units do generally include software to synchronize with Outlook.

Hi Nick521,

This might be slightly off the topic but I have recently posted my experience regarding Palm TX (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61945).

In terms of all that gives you a near "Outlook Today" type screen, I use 'Beyond Contact' by DataViz and I am very happy with it. I personally like it more then the standard Palm apps. It does have a screen that shows all your appointments for the day (can not be changed to 2 or 3 or 5 days but), tasks and the number of email messages unread.

As for the sync with Outlook - very good indeed.

As for reliability - my Palm does freeze for a few seconds from time to time (as mentioned in my above mentioned post) to launch different apps but no crashes, WiFi works 100% of the time, all is good.

I recommend TX based on my own experience.
