Palm TX users - Can you display these webcam sites?

Hi Palm TX users,

I'm considering purchasing a Palm TX for viewing our home security webcam while we're on travel, but I need your help. Before I buy one of these gizmos, I'd like to know if it can render a webcam website in Blazer or whatever web browser you use on your TX. Could you help me by going to this webcam site using your WiFi and telling me if you see the image?

If you do see the image, is it updating automatically? Also, if you do see the image, can you pan the image using the controls in the control bar, or by clicking in the image?

Please try the same thing with this webcam site:

(Log in as name: guest, password: guest, then click the "Go" button)

Do you see the image updating by looking at the timestamp?

Thanks for your help. I hope the little TX can handle these sites. It sure beats lugging a laptop around.

John

PS - This is not a spam or solicitation. I'm really trying to assess the capability of the TX before I buy. Thanks!

Hello SirPalmAlot

I was unable to see any image on the first site, although there was an explanation that the webcam may have had the maximum number of viewers or other reasons.

The second site, I was able to view the still images but unable to view the java since it said the browser I was using (Blazer) didn't have Java enabled. I don't know if the still images were updating automatically because the date / time stamp was too small to read on the TX screen. But I could just press the (GO) button on the address and it would redraw. It was extremely fast on the TX, a surprise, but I had selected the 320x240 size.

If I get a chance I'll try the first site at a later time.

Thanks, fnagle. I'm more interested in site #1 since this feed is directly from the the webcam (no computer needed). Site #2 comes through a computer that's hooked to a webcam. Site #2 has more video delivery options browser, which should make it more compatible with different browsers on different platforms.

A friend with an iPaq got the same error as you did on the first site (bummer). Both sites work fine with a desktop web browser, like Safari. I wonder if an alternate TX browser, like Opera, would perform any better. Thanks again, SirPalmAlot!
