If by fitting 'snug' you mean that it rattles about a bit, mine was the same way. To cure it I used scissors to cut a tiny piece of foam rubber about the size of a BB, maybe smaller, then I stuffed the foam into the bottom end of the silo. Now when the stylus is inserted its tip snugs up against the foam and it does not rattle at all. It seems to be lasting very well as I did it a couple months ago and had completely forgot about it till I read this post.
If you put too much foam in at first, just dig it out with a small piece of wire, such as a pin, with the end bent to form a hook. Cut the foam smaller and try again. It worked great for me.
