I am looking at buying a Palm Tx for ?115, but downfall, no charger included.
Finding a charger is quite a task so i was wondering as companys are selling usb chargers to charge it, is it possible to charge it with the ipod charger with the palm usb cable.

or

use the palm usb cable and plug it into a powered usb hub. I no that the palm will charge from the computer but it will be slow, but if it is on a powered hub then will it be any faster?

Cheers

1) I'm interested in whether that will work! It's an interesting theory and it never came to mind but i dont think it will work because it will be the wrong voltage/ampage etc. [For those of you wondering what we're talking about, the iPod charger is a little fat plug with no cord that goes into the wall. On the adapter there is a USB socket which the iPod transfer cable goes into. The transfer cable is USB one end and at the other it's the iPod plug so that's why we're wondering if using the Palm cable instead of the iPod cable will work]

2) I think it's the same speed.

USB specifications require the power voltage to be 5 volts, so all USB devices that supply power to any other USB device must use 5 volts. This voltage may or may not be regulated, either up or down, within the device that it is powering. When I say USB devices, I am refering to the standard USB protocol which use the standard USB connectors (USB A, USB B, mini USB).

But they may not all put out the same amount of current. Some laptop USB ports will supply 100 mA and some will supply 500 mA. If your USB supply is putting out 500 mA then it should charge your TX nearly as fast as the standard TX power supply. It will light up the lightning bolt on the TX. If your device only supplies 100mA it will still charge the TX but much slower and it will not light up the lightning bolt.
