Palm Pre Plus vs Droid (Verizon)

My wife and I will be out of our Verizon contract on January 28th. She is not a heavy user, and would use the phone for web browsing the most. She likes the iphone but we want to stay with Verizon. What is your opinion? Have you tried both of them? I've heard there have been issues abou the Palm Pre's screen cracking very easily and the "oreo" effect. Any insite would be great. Thanks!

Insight. :)

I've used both (thanks to CES), and I'd probably go Droid. Although I have much love for the Pre Plus, the Droid's hardware keyboard is larger, and it just feels tougher. You can get Dolphin to get multi-touch browsing on the Droid.

I would recommend the Pre to your wife because of its size. I can't reference the Pre's build quality since I've never used it. It was however an area of focus for Palm, so I'm assuming they've made improvements. Preliminary opinions from reviewers and testers say the battery life still leaves much to be desired.

I would put a lot of thought into which keyboard you like better. The Droid's is bigger, but feels really flat and provides very little tactile feedback. The Pre's smaller, but provides a reasonable amount of clickyness.

Other than that they both seem to be great phones with a lot of horsepower and a growing app selection.
