Palm E2 & docs to go

Only the latest version of Palm Desktop, and the Last two latest versions of Docs to Go will work with Windows 7.
If you have an older version of Documents to Go you can get around it by using emulation to run an older version of windows, with VMWARE or Virtual PC. Of course it depends if your comfortable with such a setup. It works for me, and I don't have to worry about Palm software no longer working with whatever modern changes companies decide to make.

Welcome, NormaP!

depending on the version of DTG (docs to go) on your E2, you may just be able to view/edit a native document -- I'm going to say Word, but it applies to Excel, too (meaning, on the PC, save it as a Word document in an appropriate version -- looking at my Palm, it will handle a Word 2003 document, for sure, or earlier, all the way back to Word 97). I'm not certain what version of DTG on the handheld began this type of file support, I'm pretty sure that version 7 included it.

this allows you to skip the desktop component of DTG altogether, all you need to do is move the document to/from the handheld -- I put docs on an SD card when I do the transfer, that way always works (normally, the PalmOS only allows files of type .prc & .pdb; that excludes any native Word/Excel documents).

good luck, let us know what happens, or if you need more help ;)

ps-- if you are planning to do a lot of document editing or reading (*especially* editing) on the E2, if you aren't running at least version 9 or 10 of DTG on the handheld, I strongly advise upgrading. the later versions are less buggy, and faster, in my experience.

I am using this handheld and my desktop has Windows 7 and Office 2007.
When I try to add a doc to the the message box appears saying "There is an error in Documents To Go". It gives a link to click but there is no help there. Please tell me what to do. This is so frustrating and time consuming.
