Palm Desktop Upgrade - Results Anyone?

I have the Palm Desktop software that came with my T3. I downloaded but have NOT installed the "upgrade."

According to Pimlico (Datebk 5) the upgrade is important and fixes several conduit "bugs" on the T3. I have never had a problem with the older version.

I would like to know how many of your have installed the newer version, and apart from Outlook problems (read a few of those), is it smoother? Less problems? More capability?

If I here back favorably from a couple of you I'll load it today, but I'd rather not if I don't have to. I have a ton of "extras" attached to Palm Desktop, and although it probably just overwrites c/programs/palm, I would not want those "hooks" disturbed and have to reinstall TDoc, TPaint, TextSync, Bonsai, etc!

Thank you all in advance.

Paul,

Which Palm Desktop update are you aksing about. Version 4.1.4 is the latest for general Palm users but I think ther's another version for T3 users. this one does include some fixs to the Palm conduits that were causing many problems. Most of the problems were with Outlook but some were also with the Palm Desktop. I don't have a T3 so I'm not the one to advise you on this but other posts I've read say that the new Desktop hasn't caused problems with existing programs and has fixed some problems with things like to-do's not being properly updated.

I have a T3 and installed the latest Palm Desktop without any problem. All my previous settings were not disturbed or affected. Even my older Sony Clie syncs with this version without hitches.

I just followed the instructions from PalmOne. I don't think you have to worry about it changing any of your settings - both in the handheld and desktop PC.

I have not tried yet any of its new features though.

Can someone post a link to the place where I can download the new desktop.

Also, I know we probably answered this but does it mess with the add-in hooks like bonsai, dayNotez?

Did not have that problem when I updated my desktop software. I don't recall being asked during the installation if I wanted to include Hot Sync Manger in the start up tray. Could it be that you somehow disabled this feature?

I am not sure if that's the cause, but it could be.

There is also a Hot Sync manager update: I downloaded and installed both the Desktop 4.1.4 and the Hot Sync manager update 4.1.0 and all seems to be well. I had been having problems with a cradle hot sync before this - sorted that out, then installed the updates and all okay.

Certainly works well with Datebook 5.1a, sk.
