Pair Valve Removal

Got a problem...Removed the PAIR according to the instructions and removed the solenoid from the bracket. Left the solenoid plugged in and wire tied to the ignition switch under the neck cover. bolted the two blockoff plates to the heads and I figure i'm done. Take a ride and all is well...until I decelerate, then the FI light comes on and stays on till I turn off the key...Light stays off till I decelerate, then comes on again.....Where did I mess up?????:ooops:

Doesn't sound like you didn't anything wrong.

A) There might be a short in the wires. Check for crimped or bare wires leading up to the solenoid. Also make sure that the solenoid wiring harness is completely clipped together (usually its' something simple).

B) If you not experiencing any problems with the bike then it might just be a harmless anomaly.

That was two times nuthin.....Talked to a Service manager today...He tells me I have to put the pair valve back on to correct the problem...I asked him if he could hook it up and read the codes to find the malfunction..He says it will tell me a problem with the pair valve...I tell him the solenoid is hooked up and should make it believe it's still there...He says to put the valve back on and if it still malfunctions..bring it in and they will read the code.....A bunch of BS..I think

I'm with GR on this one....Check and make sure you didn't pinch any wires that connect to the solenoid and make sure the connection to the solenoid is tight. I can't think of any reason you'd be getting the FI light from the PAIR with the solenoid still hooked up, unless the connection isn't tight. I have had the PAIR valve off for a long time now and have not had any issues.

If you have to, put the PAIR valve cover back on, stick the solenoid behind, but don't hook anything back up...maybe the service people will run the codes and not realize the PAIR valve isn't hooked up to anything....

take it to a different dealer and dont tell them you depaired. ask them to run the codes. and that other f***er should have ran the codes for you. It could have been one in a million things. He was just bieng lazy.

I hear you Cardude...only problem is there are two dealers in my area and I went to the best one...I have been doing a lot of reading and now have some info on making a few checks with an ohm/volt meter and continuity tester for problems. Will try that when I can get to the bike...About 3 feet of snow in front of my shed so I think it will sit for a while. I hate winter!!!!!!

LMAO!!!!! I live in the snow belt..get all those nasty storms off Lake Erie. I had to blow the driveway out twice so far this year...
GR..give me your addy and I'll send you a couple truckloads.....I have a buddy that lives South of Atlanta and he is always bustin em for me too....LOL

Man my kids would love a couple truck loads of snow. We've got a good 20' hill in our backyard. We've been waiting four years for it to snow at this house so that they could sled down it. Hasn't snowed yet!

Just think: Only 5 months to go!!! Ha,ha :fight2::lol4:

Time to break out the snowmobiles and get your winter riding high that way. Those things are fun as heck to ride!

I'm glad I seen this thread. Just got done taking the PAIR valve off my bike. Took one hour to take off the PAIR valve, Fresh air intake tube and add the back cylinder plate. Took me 3 hours to add the front cylinder plate.:fight2:
But in the end it was worth it. All that annoying popping is gone.:bluethum:
