Painting CF

Virtually every piece of decent CF is painted with a clear coat to help with UV protection.
Does that answer the question.

What about covering up some of the CF with paint? Paint over the clear coat, or sand it down and paint it?

had to replace some pieces after a wreck. i don't like having too much CF on my bike, but I want some on the nose and some on the tail. so I'm buying CF parts and painting over parts of them to limit the exposed CF

The Surface is epoxy, we (in the aircraft industry) paint everything. apart from the fact we don't use woven layup, but Uni Directional ply's. So you would just see a black texture of the top ply. Not the nice woven texture. Hence the term black metal..

Love the effect Smeegle..
