Painted Inner Fairing

Three pieces: inner fairing, fairing cap, idiot light bezel. HD's kit includes the fairing and cap; not the bezel.

Also, lots of folks add the HT tweeter pod and fairing mounted mirrors.

This is mine; painted as part of a repaint project last year:

If you have a two-tone bike, there have been some nice two-tone paint jobs. Here's one I saw last year:

lol... Alright, so I'm an idiot, where's the idiot light bezel?

I had the HT Tweeter Pod on my last bike, I DO like the look of it being painted to match the inner fairing. Thanks for the reminder!

By the way, nice bike PingMan

Bikes with some 'color' sure look great due to the contast of the original matte black and then being painted body color. Even the Vivid Black looks good.

Found a seller on eBay that paints your inner fairing and cap for $250, plus shipping, but looks like many here had theirs painted locally for about the same, or less.

Had mine done 2 toned. ( Dark Blue Pearl and Black ) Paint 114.00 from Harley and Paid painter 125.00. I am very pleased with 2 colors instead of 1 color. The hardest part is having paint matched if you go that route. I had the blue matched and it was 120.00 for the pint, I just ordered from Harley the quart for 114.00 for anything else I need in the future.

It's the small plastic piece around the "idiot" lights; probably a misnomer but refers to the dash indicator lights for turn signals, neutral, etc.

What's the price of a new(unpainted) inner fairing and cap through H-D? I see used ones on eBay but don't know if they go for too much compared to buying new.

I had mine done locally for $160 for the inner and the lower fairing cap, plus light bezel and two unused switch caps. Don't forget to paint the unused switch caps to match, also the light bezel indicator just pushes out off the bezel and makes it easy to paint. I purchased a take off inner fairing and cap from forum member for $125 and had it painted and then did the swap out so my bike was not down. The swap was not a bad job just take your time and it can be done in four to six hours or less, I wiped down and cleaned everything while I was in there. I is one of the best things I have done on my bike and looks great even being vivid black.

WOW! That was $75.00 very well spent! I found mine on e-bay (inner fairing & cap) for $149.00 + $18.00 (I think?) shipping. Like a week or two later found the SE gauges (complete set) for $230.00 shipped!!

If anyone is planning on any other mods like gauges or handlebars the time to do it would be when the inner fairing is already off for paint.

Takes a few hours by yourself to R&R the inner fairing or $200-$300 if the dealer does it so you might as well get as much done while the inner is off.

Good time to have steering head checked/ torqued/ inspected as well as fork oil changed if your bike's mileage or age warrant either of these procedures.

Thinking of having front end suspension modified? This would be a good time for that as well.

P.S. The bezel only goes in one way. Don't ask me how I know.
