Painted Inner Fairing Or Not

I did that with my 08 Street glide and it really does make the bike look better. You might want to put regular mirrors on you handle bars too.
 
I purchased a family friend's wrecked bike and as they're (dealer) putting it back together, I'm having them add the painted inner fairing. I can hardly wait.
 
I am on the other side of the fence - I have an 04 and I wanted a painted inner - Black - I bought a new inner and had it painted, then did the swap. At first I thought it looked cool and it does look nice.

What I found was the vivid black was a dusk magnet.

If I was building a bike that was more show - I feel it may be ok for me.

I ride my bike a Lot and Travel/tour.

For me - the black is more work than I would like - IF the inner was not a dark color - it may not show dust as much - just something to keep in mind.

I have the stock inner and the only reason I haven't changed it back is because it does take quite a bit of work.

Becuase it is show shinny - it will show ever defect or dust

Its your bike and your money - do what you like.
 
Agree that it looks great. For those of you who have a painted inner fairing, isn't there more glare in your eyes while riding down the rode on a sunny day?

How difficult is an inner swap? I want to do pullback bars and cruise this winter and Im thinking that I may as well do an inner painted as well.
 
If you don't already have a service manual AND a parts book - get both for your model - it will help ALOT.... esp the parts book - it shows everything Exploded and makes for an easier rebuild..

If you are like me - I have a short attention span.. IF I had removed my inner and had it painted - during that down time - I would have forgotten where everything went. What I did was buy a New inner and had it painted then did the swap in a day.

Best way to do it is to have a buddies bike in your garage when the install is being done. pull his outter off and then you have something to look at - makes it a lot easier.
