I am an 18 year old woman who has been suffering from pains for a little over a half year now. They are located on my left side and start on my mid-rib cage area, it wraps around to my back (usually my lower back, but can be the entire left side), and this pain makes it very difficult to breathe. It hurts worse to breathe when I'm standing during my pains. They can last from ten minutes to a few hours. I feel so drained and exhausted from fighting for breath. These pains are usually rather severe, but they've been slightly minute or moderate. They can happen at any time: sitting still, running, working, etc. They are usually worse with activity such as running.
I have had an ultrasound, chest xrays, EKG, biopsy, nuclear stress test, and echocardiogram. Everything has turned out normal so far. The chest xray did show a cyst on my back on the right side, but so far it has not caused any problems for me. Now, there is a lump near the top of my ribs, on the 3rd or so rib.
I was diagnosed with costochondritis and put on anti-inflammatory steriod medicines and was then taken to the hospital while I was at work. The steriods made it hard for me to remember very much, I was always out of it, and it made the pains doubly worse.
My current doctor has bascially told me she doesn't know what's wrong or where to go from here. If anyone is or has had similar problems or can tell me what they were diagnosed with it would be very helpful.
