Pain under right rib cage

Well, I ended up going to the emergency room today - the pain is getting worse. They did abdominal xrays and I had some blood work done. They said although they can't say for certain, it looks like gallstones. I have to get an ultrasound done - don't know when that will happen! She also wants me to see my family doctor and then be referred to a surgeon because that's usually the end result - which is so not what I wanted but... She gave me some pain meds to now so hopefully they will help. I'll update once I've had my ultrasound - although that could be weeks!

Misty - did you have your surgery laproscopically? If so, how was the recovery time/pain, etc? And if not, how was that?

I had the same thing happen to me about 5 yrs ago. Had mine taken out. Off work about a week and recovery pretty easy. You will feel much better once that thing is out if your gallstones are as bad as mine were. Good luck to you

good luck with your surgery,

I had my gallbladder removed over 6 years ago, now pain is back. Dr has thought it might me a stone in one of the ducts. But ultra sound, x ray, blood test then MRI I show an enlarged liver. don't know yet for sure what we are going to do about it. All blood work for liver, CBC, pancreas was fine.

I know I need to change my diet, loose the extra weight I have put on in last few months---which most is due to enlarged liver and extra fluid I am retaining.

This is on top of my FIbro, and many other things:mad:

I am experiencing the same type of right sided pain. Are there any other options (other than surgery) if it is a gallbladder problem? Are there specific foods/remedies that anyone can recommend with this problem? (I also experience a lot of heartburn due to a hiatal hernia)
Thanks,
