Yes, it is because the medication is not being injected into a contained area. Thus, if you are up and moving about, the medication quickly disperses into the surrounding tissues, muscles, etc. and becomes diluted quickly. However, if you can lay still for 24 hours or longer, the medication pools around the area that is inflamed (assuming the doc placed the needle in the right location :dizzy:). The longer it pools, the more it gets where you want it to be. Does that make sense?

Hey there, i am just looking for alternatives because i want to enjoy life and if a shot will help hurray! I am tired of playing this game of pain. It may not work but i'm willing to try something, but i'm thinking i may have actually had it doen. Is this the injection they do with a flouroscopic? Or is an epidurul like when you have a baby?

lady bug, i am trying to get some catch up hugs done today(((((((((hugs))))))))). I hope you feel better soon!
P.S. Is the epidural shot hard to deal with gettting done, like is the relief better than the daily pain? I hate to but in but am looking for relief myself soon! As of right now i have a heating pad on myback from todays PT.

Often it takes two or even three shots to get any kind of long-lasting relief from ESI's. You will better your chances of the medication working if you really do nothing for 48 hours after the injection. I know the folks at the hospital won't tell you that, but it really optimizes your chances of it "working."

this maybe a silly question but do you know why?
