pain in my arm

I have been in hospital recently and I had a cannula in my left arm for two days. If I hold my arm out, palm up, I have a swelling just above the crease of my elbow and it is sore. Could this be anything to do with the fact that i had a cannula inserted in hospital or, alternatively is it some kind of infection due to the fact that I have not been well all week. I have had aches and pains as if I were starting with flu all week.
 
I don't know the answers to your questions but given your recent hospitalization, I would encourage you to contact either the hospital or your doctor's office.

Flu like aches and pains could, of course, be the flu...but they could also be the side effect of medications. Are you currently taking meds for anything?
