HI,
I am new here but I was doing well and had surgery on June 30.2010. Sunday Jule12th I had pain 1 inch from incision side to side of rt hip to front of leg to inside of leg, I stayed in the bed most of the day yesterday because it hurt, well this morning it now hurts on the inside of both legs, not the front. Is this part of the healing process? I don't want to act durab and call the doctor if it isn't nothing.
Thanks.

With many spine surgeries you can expect various levels of pain in various areas over the first 6 weeks at least. Nerves get irritated during surgery and post-op swelling in the area can also bother the nerves. Do you have pain medications and are you taking them as prescribed? When is your next office visit with the surgeon?

I had twinges and pain for months. I stopped the pain meRAB when I left the hospital (my choice). The nerves are irritated and it takes time. You are only 1 1/2 weeks out. Give it more time and if you were given meRAB and feel comfortable taking them it will help.

What kind of surgery did you have? It is very normal after any kind of disc surgery to have the kind of pain you describe. The nerves are very irritated and it takes time for them to settle down. Also, your back will never be quite the same as it was before, so it will be easier to irritate the nerves just by bending or moving a certain way ... so take it easy. Try not to be flat on your back. Sit, reclining, or stand if you can. If you had any pain meRAB prescribed after your surgery, take them if they help.

Right after my discectomy surgery 5 years ago, I still had nerve pain for at least 2 months after surgery...though it was nothing like the pain I had before surgery. Even now, if I lift something too heavy (I was told never to lift anything heavier than 20 lbs ever again) or overdo it cleaning the house or something (too much bending or stretching) I still have twinges of nerve pain, but I know if I rest and take it easy it will go away.
