I have degenerative disc disorder and a couple months ago I received a spinal 'block' for the pain. It did not help, so she gave me another one 1 month later. Since then, I have had pain down BOTH my legs. Not constantly but when it hurts, it HURTS. Could she have hit a nerve in my back and caused this pain? I am afraid to mention this scenerio to her because it is hard to find a pain mgmt Dr. I don't want to be dropped. What else could be causing this pain? :dizzy:

I also had extra leg and pelvice pain after having a nerve root block CT guided and I haven't had any more. I think I have limited space there and the doctor tried three times to get the injection in so I gave them a miss. Allan

Did your extra pain ever go away? Mine is just about constant now. I am afraid that my pain mgmt. doc will drop me if I ask her about this, like I am putting the blame on her. I was trying to get some different kind of help besides pills so I thought the block would be a great option. I never thought it would cause further pain. She currently has me on the diladuid patch but it is causing severe skin irritations. But the patch doesn't take away the leg pain. Oh, I don't know what to do. I just need to know if she caused the damage by those shots. Does anyone know the answer?

I'm sorry to hear about all your other pain issues....I hope you have a GOOD doctor that helps you out the correct way :)

Epidural injections don't work for everyone. When they talk to you about them or have you sign a release form they mention every possible problem including making the symptoms worse.

I have used them in the past with success but lately they have had no positive impact on me and I've begun to react to the steroiRAB.

So have a discussion with your PM doctor about how the injections are not working. Do they also have you on prescription meRAB and are you treating with an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon or Neurosurgeon as well?

I just starting taking Opana ER 20 mg. twice daily plus 30mg oxy. I was on the Fentyl patch but had too much trouble keeping them on for 3 days. My PM Dr. will not be your Dr. in less you get her injections, word is she gets to charge medicaid a hefty fee. I am just worried about the pain in my legs. It is constant, pain meRAB aren't helping that pain. I have DDD in my lower back due to a motorcycle wreck. She didn't get a new MRI done or anything, just gave me injections. The first one didn't work so she gave me another one 4 weeks later. I have only been her patient for 3 months. My main question was can spinal blocks cause nerve damage to my legs. It seems to me like they would, I just needed validation.

I stopped getting any injections some time back as I was not having any real benefit from them as I have tried several different doctors and a few types of injection. All up I have probably had about a hundred individual jabs and I was over them emotionally also. I found that I may have had some relief at first but after a time it was not worth the distress. Nothing seems to help my leg pain either, apart from the hamstring stretches I do every night, just gently stretching with one motion for about 25 seconRAB, along with heat on my back afterwarRAB that allows me to get to sleep mostly.
I hope you find some relief but as has been mentioned I would see a neurosurgeon or an orthopaedic spine surgeon soon, that is the path I have taken and I have surgery soon. The doctor believes that will take the pressure and pain from my legs and I am hoping also some of my back pain.
I use the durogesic patch available in Australia but have to be careful how I apply them. I usually shower before changing one or clean the skin with a warm, wet washer. I still have some issues with them but found they have worked the best for me even in our usually hot climate here. I try not to get to sweaty though and I have to clip the hair from that area on my shoulder, then with my other med's I cope. But it is still a painful injury. Good luck.
