Is it unusual for a person to have very severe pain in the back and leg area then it subsides for a week or so and is bearable or almost gone? I have spondyliolisthesis and this is whats happens to me. I do notice that when my IBS is under control, my back seems ok. But when IBS is acting up so is my back. Can this be nerves shifting or something down my back? This condition has me going crazy. Thanks , Linda

I've got sort of the same problem and I think it drives my pain mgt doc a bit crazy when she tries to document my case and treatment in that when I have good days, I feel ok and can function and do not require any meRAB - on the bad days, I can't stand up straight and the pain is very intense, my feet start to go nurab and pain starts ripping up my legs and into my back if I walk or stand for more than about 10 minutes.

There really doesn't seem to be a trigger for these events unless I clearly over-do it one day and I know I will end up paying for it later that day and for the next few days.

I had good results with the radiofrequency nerve ablation (was treated about 10 months ago) and have an appt for this week where I wanted to go get zapped again but I've changed insurance companies and the specific plan I selected had some additional fine print I didn't fully understand at the time and now it looks like the RF treatment will be a hefty out of pocket expense under my current plan. If I can hold things together until next Feb when I can change plans, then the current doc will be 100% covered after the plan deductible is met. So, I will talk with the doc and explain things to her this week and unless things just get intolerable, then I will probably continue to have good and bad days until next Feb.

About a month after the first RF treatment, the good days started to outnuraber the bad days by a large margin but over the last month or so, the ratio has changed so I think the nerves have started to grow back from the first treatment.

Hi AlanVA, glad it's not only me... driving me crazy. I'm just wondering if some of the nerves in my back are shifting or something maybe while I'm sleeping???
I don't even know if that can happen lol. I'm not complaining , just confused.
I glad your treatments are working for you. Stay well

Hi LInda,
nice to hear from you again...
As you know by now this horrible problem - our spine- and it's going different for each of us...
Why didn't you check it with your Spinal ortho? Or if you did, what did he/she say?
All the best, honey!

I will see my spine doctor on the 19th. He just says surgery. But I'm not ready yet. I'll let you know what he says on the 19th.
