What's the real issue?...they way you were caught or you think that running the light was OK...running lights around here used to lead to lots of wrecks....most not pretty...I'm sure all of you have at one time or another been the lead person waiting for the light to go green, it does and some A-hole comes zipping through the intersection, running the light....feel safe?...feel like running them down and having a "discussion"....I have no issue with the red light cameras or the speed cameras....around here at a few of the bigger intersections, there is a sensor that picks up movement so that it delays the green until the intersection is clear....seems like a better idea...great idea paying with coins...maybe give them a break next time and use nickels?....

in ohio, they had to take the cameras down.. my brother got a ticket last year, his wife got the fine because it was her car.. they got a letter a day later to disregard the first letter/ticket because the camersa were just found illegal..
as far as yellow lights go, i was following my wife a over a year ago, her in her car,me on my electraglide... she locked her brakes up at a yellow because a sherriff was following me(coincadense)i locked my brakes slid on wet tar the county truck just spilled a second earlier.. i rearended my wife,2k damage to my bike, got a ticket, and havnt had a job since because im a cdl driver..they wont hire with a rearend colision on the driving record..

I do. You have no ability to face your accusor and the camera is a snapshot in time and takes no circumstances into account. You could be following an ambulance with your spouse in it, you could be at the tail end of a funeral procession, you could be waved through by a cop, you could be a physician on an emergency call (and when you get the ticket 2 weeks later, who remembers why/where you were at an exact time), you could be rushing someone to the hospital in your vehicle, you may not be driving the vehicle registered to you, etc. Tons of reasons. All of which a cop would understand and either not stop you in the first place or allow you to go and perhaps even escort you.

These devices are not about public safety at all. They are about collecting revenue.

I'm just curious. How many people here ever let anyone else ride their bike? No one (except service techs and as soon as my prepaid maintenance is up they won't either) rides my bike and I have no desire to ride anyone elses.

I'm not sure why you were so upset about this to go through all this trouble. Sad thing is the only person whose day was probably ruined by this is the poor slob in the office who (if they accept payment this way) has to count them. They didn't have anything to do with your getting a ticket right or wrong. They're just like the rest of us and just want to finish another day at work and get on their bike.

Oh well you showed them.

Just asking would you have been happier if the incredibly underpaid (if his salary is equivalent to the cost of someone running to the bank) cop would have stopped you and said you couldn't leave the state before paying the fine? Also adding some points to your dad's license.

I'm not sure about other areas but here on Long Island, if you go thru a light and get a ticket, you deserved it. They have the snapshot and there is a video of the intersection before, during and as you go thru it. Once you see your self goung thru the light there is little doubt about it. It shows the time, speed of entry and the entire intersection, I've gotten one and after seeing the video there is nothing to dispute, good thing is just pay it and no points or insurance premiums going up.

Not about 'public safety'? Everything you suggest is nothing but a poor EXCUSE for your desire to break the law. If you feel the need for an excuse to break the law, just be a man and pay the ticket if you are caught. If you fail to stop on red, you are breaking the law. PERIOD! I can't imagine that there is anyone riding that does not know that red light means stop.
