Any suggestions for how to try to optimize my chances of it recovering? Is there an ideal way to dry it? Is it possible it'll recover (it was on and charging at the time , and stayed in the water overnight ), or should I give up hope and buy another one?

just try to disassemble it and blow dry it using a hair dryer... just dont put the dryer on high and dont try to get it too close... its a long shot, but try it anyway... dont turn it on untill you are quite sure that all parts are dry... but just in case be prepared to buy a new one...

Yes, DON'T turn it on. Disassemble it, dry each and everything with a hair dryer, clean the contacts with a cotton bud dipped in denatured alcohol, reassemble it and then turn it on.

I hate to say this but if it was charging at the time, the phone is a lost cause.

Good Luck m8.

he said the phone was charging while it was dropped in water and left overnight..

dont turn your phone on, dissasemble, dry it with a blowdryer on medium, and dip the phone in alcohol, then rub it.

see if that works

By 'Charging', I meant if the phone was connected to a power outlet with the adapter. It when the little indicator on the right kinda blinks.

Yea, leaving your phone in the toilet overnight isn't covered by any warranty known to man. ImportGSM might be able to help you with paid repair however.
