Overweight and Short of Breath?

I've had ongoing health problems for 3 years now, and seeking help. Perhaps there are others who are suffering with the same health problems as myself? My doctor is not giving me any answers, so I am trying to self diagnose myself. I am 21, female, and severely overweight. At my highest weight I weighed 300 pounds and now am down to 260. I am 5'10''. I get extremely short of breath while just sitting down and doing nothing. This usually comes on suddenly and can last anywhere from an hour to a few days. Could this be weight related? I was diagnosed with polysistic(sp?) ovarian syndrome and an insulin resistant pancreas last year. I've had irregular periods my entire adolescence, and have ceased to have them over the past 5 years. I constantly have pains in my chest (primarily) and arms that last anywhere from a few seconds to a minute in length. I am very scared. Some of my previous health problems have ceased since I lost weight. But I constantly feel wheezy and short of breath. Occasionally my breath will be (almost as if) knocked out of me and I have a pounding sensation in my chest and my heart simultaneously during that time. I'm very frightened. I've had ECG's, Holter Monitors, and Chest X-Ray's done and everything comes back normal. Is there anyone that has the same problems? I need help. I'm starting to have severe sharp pains in my uterus and other "female" areas as well.

I'm afraid that this is going to kill me and that I am going to die.

It is a shame that your doctor is not willing to take enough effort to help you, especially since he is so willing to charge you a fee.

When your body consumes more calories, in one meal, or during the day, than it can covert to energy, the excess calories become stomach fat and causes excessive, hazardous, acid levels of Insulin and Blood Sugar to circulate through every artery, gland and organ in your body.

The longer this unhealthy condition exists, the unhealthier the body becomes. Excess calories will slowly rot away the body from the inside out. As it gets worse, the symptoms get worse.

It is amazing how many diseases are caused by bad diets, and how many people, are deathly ill solely because of their diet.

Regardless..... I wish you the best of health and luck. Take care.... be well!

YEs, being overweight can cause your breathing problems. It can also have caussed your periods to quit. Your breathing issues now may also be stress related...which can cause these panic attacks to seem exactly like the real deal...and how can you tell the difference?

Are you in ant sort of PT right now? Has your GP given you any exercises to do?

hang in there...although this is frightening...you aren't going to die. But you do need to continue to loose the weight, I think you will find that as the pound mel off, some of these issues may melt away also. Goold luck!
