hi

friends from oversea which is europe, try to send me sms but I don't receive any and I couldn't send to them too. any idea why? thx alot

Helo and welcome to CPF.

For overseas you have to type the number in as +1, then the country code, and then their number. Is this how you are doing it?

yes.
i still can't send them back and they can't send me too.
not only from them, i couldn't get any SMS from anywhere.

Ellen thanks. The "+1" actually replaces the "011". The "011" does not seem to work now.Hmm, good question I don't remember. I did enable LD and roaming for AT&T but more for voice.

it works now. i didn't even call them yet. i send text oversea this morning it gets there. when they send me back, i did receive. but wt really weird is they can't text me back unless i text them first. well idk. i'm still confuse about it but atleast i can text them now.

n again. thx alot. this forums really helps and full of useful infos here.:)

Yeah, there are some diffs in sending to Europe. Save all numbers as +1 will do fine, otherwise with 011 you'll run into probs when roaming.

Denmark does not receive any msges from Verizon. Expect upto 24h delay on sending to Greece and UK. Italy, Germany and Netherlands are fine and arrive at an instant.

The "+1" is for calls to North American Dialing Area numbers. The "1" has to be replaced by the actual country code of the recipient. The "+" shortcut for the International Access Code only works for GSM phones. CDMA phones have to enter the actual code, which is "011" for the United States and countries which use "1" as the country.
