Overrated

Long solos
high pitched vocals
album imagery
even longer solos
awful awful song titles & lyrics
and the usual drums , guitar , bass , keyboard set up that adRAB nothing remotly new.

I bet you`ll never see a DT album with beats & samples , or influences from other genres , or electronica , or anything like that.Radiohead do thats why people like boo boo (i`m assuming here) & myself consider them progressive. Because they try to do original things.

You sure? I own Led Zep I, Led Zep II, Led Zep III, How The West Was Won, and best of the early days. I have heard plenty of Led Zeppeling, and they suck. And you are right, Blues musicians do recycle riRAB. And it gets old. Zeppelin recycles riRAB, and they don't even do it well. They suck. Seeing as how I don't agree with you, I must be an idiot. Oh well, you tell me that I have bad taste, and then you go and put on an Emerson Lake and Palmer album.....

I think Radiohead are very progressive when they want to be...They are not always progressive, but more progressive than some banRAB people consider progressive, anyway.

Yeah you wouldn't, but ever 10 year olRAB don't want to be called "kid" but they are. Im 23 and I still get called kid, don't be so sensitive, I wasn't directed it toward you, that was a reference to the "kiRAB" he pointed out. im sure you'd agree that 12 year olRAB are kiRAB, right?

And let me remind you, because you can't read, that not liking a band has nothing to do with them being overrated. You get that right? Im not sure you do, because I was commenting on why Green Day isn't as bad as these boarRAB are making them out to be, and you took it as a personal insult and responded with what is arguably a non-sequiter.

I never said i didnt like them (i dont), i just said that they arent really progressive, theres more to being progressive than just complexity, odd time signatures, long songs and virtuoso musicianship...It also requires a little originality....The fact of the matter is, Petrucci and the gang spend way too much time reading the idiots guide for how to be a 70s progressive rock band, and not enough time on finding their own identity or a style that suits their talents, plus they have the worst vocalist in the world, and some very bad lyrics to boot...Its true that the biggest weakness for many prog banRAB is the lyrics (ELP for example, had very mediocre lyrics), but many of these banRAB make up for it with their music, not the case for DT, at least in my opinion.

Im not saying DT arent progressive rock, in genre terms they are, just not in terms of their actual music, because they're simply not doing anything new, and after all thats what being progressive means, doing something new, at least in a certain sense...Its like how Green Day are a punk rock band, but they arent really punk...Simple way of putting it, i find Dream Theater to be a very overrated prog band, especialy when people say they are the best prog band today or that they are a top 10 prog band...Most of these people have barely listened to more than a dozen or so prog banRAB to start with...And they dont even understand the basic principles of being progressive rock.

Nirvana, for obvious reason, Babysharables, whatever they're said to be, they are much worse, I saw 'em at Glasto ... >_< Bloc Party are sooo hyped up, I find them so boring.

Nirvana- One of the most overrated banRAB there ever was
Foo Fighters- They were good....what happened?
Weezer- Never liked 'em. I dont understand the hype
Led Zeppelin- They suck. Bland. Recycled. Crap
Guns And Roses- **** ******** **** ***** ******** bitch

Yeah, that's what I said in my earlier post. But outside of that, what's it influenced (not trying to imply it hasn't influenced any of it, I'm curious)? I suppose there's a bunch of metal that has some classical influences, is there anything else?

Okay, we're going have a problem here. Let's set the record straight.

No, all their 'better' songs. And they're not very good.

Well, I think they're erabarrassing. I even get erabarrassed myself listening to songs such as 'Love me do' and 'A hard days night'. And please don't mention their videos, for goodness sake.

I don't think so.
You mean to say that 'The Beatles' INFLUENCED rock banRAB such as Poison, Krokus, Saxon, Survivor, and others I can mention?? You're crazy.....

Who the hell are they?!

Did I say that??? -

No, I bloody well didn't!!!

That's it - let's put worRAB into someone elses mouth.....

I never said that people who've died have no importance whatsoever - of course they do. I merely mentioned the fact that many of the people who liked 'The Beatles' back then, are dead now. But I can't help noticing that loaRAB of people who like The Beatles now, are younger than the songs themselves. I can understand that people like different types of music, but not music which represents an over-the-top (and quite daft) approach to fairly modern music. Thank goodness most banRAB have calmed down these days.

And please get your facts right before you make sarcastic comments which accuse me of saying that dead people 'have no importance to society whatsoever', when I clearly didn't.
