Overplayed Rock Songs

I never found there to be much on either of those albums. I suppose maybe on a handful of songs there's a bit of an influence. They're pretty far from what I'd call trip-hop albums overall though.

 As my Mum would say, "I don't care who started it. I'M finishing it". But yes, Blur were somewhat in the wrong there. Oasis didn't have to get all shirty though ;)

I have so, SO much love for Graham Coxon....

U2 - With or without you = Dire over exposure

White Stripes - 7 Nation Army got right on my tits too.

I don't listen to the radio much, I have complete control over it when I do so if I think a song is being overplayed I'm not gonna listen to it until I get sick of it. Fortunately most people I know like crappy pop music so they're only overexposing me to music I hate to begin with. Wait did I just say fortunately? Well relatively fortunate anyway.

Also, someone mentioned The Beatles. For the biggest rock band in the world they get very little radioplay where I live. Usually it's just Hey Jude, Come Together, Revolution, Lucy in the Sky with DiamonRAB and Back in the USSR. Seriously. And I think Band on the Run by Wings gets more radioplay than any of those.

Floyd do get a lot but only the big 3 albums. Zep get stuff played from all of their albums, all the time, so they take the prize, as much as I love them.

Even though modern music isn't as fresh and original as the decades before it, it's still just as good. In the last 10 years we've had a lot of good music, and it's not been generic at all. A lot of banRAB have took their influences, whether it's post punk or psychedelic and really crafted their own sound from it. That said I don't know what the 'naughties' will be remerabered for.. and I don't know what the 10s has in store.

You've never heard of Kasabian?! Have you got your sarcastic hat on? If not then they're meant to be the "next Oasis." that pub rock, drunken singalong kind of sound, nothing exceptional but decent enough listen.

Mumford & Sons are a folk band from London. Their album is a little gem.

Nope, I listened to it on YouTube before I made that post and I had never heard it before. Though I suppose technically now that means I have heard it. Only once though. :)

Pretty much any new Pop/Rock/"Club music is overplayed. All crap too. I love the old rock.

- A lot of the music you're naming is good music. I don't reckon that they are overplayed (besides KINGS OF LEON, who had one song a couple of years ago that I loved, but I don't know what it's called. Main singer screams every 4 seconRAB :D), though I live in Australia so this might explain it.

Well, I admit that just because music will be less innovative in the future doesn't mean it will be inherently less good.

But even of the modern artists that I like, I can't think of any that are as groundbreaking as tons of acts from previous decades. I can't even think of any that are as groundbreaking as Nirvana were in the 90s and it's not like Nirvana were the most original band in the world.

Max Webster / Kim Mitchell, and the Tragically Hip.

for those who don't know KM...

i actually had around a half dozen of his tapes when i was about 15. :shycouch:

On an on-topic note, my job is so soul destroyingly awful and boring that I produced this:

My Local station (Erm, Heart FM or KMFM or.... I dunno, but it's sh*t) between the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm.

Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon - Played 5 times.
Use somebody by Kings of Leon - Played 2 times.
Don't stop believing - Journey - Played 3 times.
I still haven't found what I'm looking for by U2 - Played twice.
With or without you by U2 - Played once.
Beautiful Day by U2 - Played once.

I need to take drugs before I start work. I really think it's the only solution to me possibly turning murderous...

Like I said I'm generally not up on what's popular and what isn't. Looking at Kasabian on Wikipedia though, it looks like they're much more of a big deal in the UK than here. Their last album, which was #1 in the UK, only made it to #126 here. None of their albums have even gone gold in the US.

Nooooo. Suede are cack. However I'm inclined to just agree, you've vented your hatred for Oasis too many times. I can't take the intense ranting again.
