Overheating Mazda MX3?

Mazda MX3 1992 K Plate, 83000 Miles

Had this car a couple of years, started having overheating problems, sensor was changed (found to be faulty). Problem still there, thermostat removed, seemed ok, but now fault is back overheating again, losing water from somewhere but no leaks visible, fan is cutting in. Keep 5 litres of water with me at all times in case I need to top up.

Any idea's? Could it be water pump. HELP.......
 
Hi, please dont listen to the guy who mentions the muffler - we all have condensation build up in our exhaust systems, it is perfectly normal to see a certain amount of water coming from exhaust when engine cold, it only becomes a problem if there is a high amount of smoke coming from exhaust too.

You can remove the spark plugs, and check for signs of coolant on the end of them, this sometimes indicates a headgasket fault, but not always so.
I suggest you go to local garage and ask for a block test / head test. They can do this pretty quickly and will let you know if there is a gasket problem. It will check for gasses entering the cooling system through the combustion.
Keep an eye onthe temperature guage, listen out for misfiring of the engine, take it easy, and top up until you can get it checked out.

USUALLY WATER PUMP BEARING,BUT HAVE A LOOK IN THE RAD TO CHECK,IT COULD BE THE CYLINDER HEAD GASKET.Check each cylinder pressure and plug etc. for signs,
 
Sounds like you have a coolant leak. When cold, put a pressure tester (hand pump with fitting to the radiator neck) and see if you can see any coolant leaking. Once found, fix the leak.
 
If you are losing water but there are no leaks then your head gasket should be looked at urgently
 
if the car is consuming water the problem is with the cylinder head

check if the car is leaking water in the muffler, if you see water going out the muffler then you need to rebuild your cylinder head

kept adding water until you fix it
