I adore Johnny Depp but I agree that his so called acting genius is mainly based around a fantastic ability to play oddballs.

Couldnt see him doing well in a v straight role.

Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe- tossers as people but good actors in my opinion...

Perhaps you ought to watch Searchers before you start saying things like that. He certainly was not playing a typical John Wayne role in that one. He should have got his Oscar for that one.
