Over rated Actors

I saw Ewan Mcgregor on stage playing Iago in Othello, and i have to say i was surprised. I used to think he was overrated, but he is an incredibly good actor, and that is one of the only times i have actually been captivated by a Shakespeare play :D

Very good looking too :o Me and my frienRAB were probably drooling on everyone below :p

I have to hand it to you right there.

Absolutely agree! I cannot stand him. He played a large part in ruining Captain Corelli's Mandolin. One of my favourite novels.

Thank goodness he never played Superman/Clark Kent. I would have been livid. He was so painfully miscast in Ghost Rider.

I would place him and Ben Affleck as the two worst actors of all time.

The Wayans Brothers and Ben Stiller all follow behind.

Actresses, I've already mentioned Keira Knightley. Then there is Halle Berry, Sharon Stone, Kirsten Dunst and Emma Watson.

Actually SweetFA, Connery was excellent in The Hill, The Offence and The Man Who Would Be King. And Caine was very good in Sleuth with Laurence Olivier...

Hera:

No, I am not a huge fan of method acting, although there are method actors I like, such as Pacino. I find method acting to be false, obvious and mannered, too devoid of subtlety. The trick to acting is not to see the 'wheels working', and to recede into the character, which involves a large degree of subtlety.

I find too much method acting actually works against that.

I think the best method actors have been/are those who use/pick up subtlety and other styles and their own intelligence to flesh out their acting and give a more rounded style and performance.

The reason I dont rate a Dean or a Gosling is because I find they use a 'stock' method style, full of overmannerisms and falsity.

Halle Berry is the first that springs to mind. To be fair, I haven't seen the film she won the Oscar for, but she's been very poor in every film I have seen her in.

Catherine Zeta Jones- tedious and one dimensional.

Not what I define as an actress- give me Susan Sarandon and Glenn Close anyday

I disagree with Morgan Freeman, he may seem to be the 'smug know it all'; but that just shows how good he is playing his characters. Shawshank, Se7en, Spider and Kiss the Girls he was the experienced prisoner/cop taking the younger man under his wing. Perhaps you should check out Glory or Amistad, to see that he doesn't always play world wise or the same characters all the time.

So edgy roles like Fight Club or American History X, personally I think those are his two best films. While he isn't a prolific actor, his roles are well acted imo.

Actors I don't rate -

The whole Douglas family (and extended family; Esteves), with the exception of Kirk Douglas.
Al Pachino
Robert De Niro (though I rate him over AP any day)
George Clooney
Daniel Day Louis
Leonardo Dicaprio
Tom Cruise
Tom Hanks (occasional good movies - Forrest Gump, Philadelphia)
Sylvester Stallone

I haven't seen the remake of The Wicker Man. I won't ever see it. I don't want to see it.

The Wayans brothers and Ben Stiller are about as funny as watching paint dry.

I caught that episode of FrienRAB he was in a while ago and all I wanted to do was rip my hair out, because in that episode he actually plays a really annoying character which isn't hard, because Stiller is hugely annoying. Something that is suppose to be funny was reduced to being merely cringe inducing, courtesy of one Ben Stiller.
