NOOOO!! He's one of the best actors ever surely?! Have you ever seen "Inside I'm Dancing"? So so so so good, I cried my head off at the end! Not sure about his recent stuff now he's all big and famous but he was very good in the afore mentioned and also Shameless, I was shocked when I found out he has a thick Scottish accent in real life, he did a pretty good London one in Shameless!
Very overrated IMO:
Anthony Hopkins: Watch 'Meet Joe Black' then attempt to disagree with me. Was he supposed to be American in that film Nice accent Tony
Al PaCinO: AcceNts EveRy OthEr SyllAble In a WeirDy SinGy-SonGy Voice And AssUmes It will Pass For AcTing. Used to be marvellous, see Godfather 1 (and I suppose 2) and Scarface, but then Carlito's way....bam. He's just a crazy eyed shouty man and that is now his acting 'style'. Pah.
If you think Al Pacino is one trick pony you might as well include Robert "method actor"de Niro in the same category.
For me Pacino is a hell of a lot better actor than de Niro though and the best Pacino films IMO were Serpico & Godfather 1....in fact he should have won an Oscar for Serpico!
Ewan Mcgregor is terrible too, in fact with Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen, the new Star Wars films must have one of the worst principal casts ever.
About a year ago, I watched a rundown of the the world's greatest actors, EVER, and he came out at number 2. QUOTE
Shudder. Anthony Hopkins is crap. Also the Hannibal Lecter in 'Manhunter' was much better than camp old Tony, much more sinister. Even though Manhunter was unashamedly, and on occasion embarrassingly, 80s
