Outdoor TV- Can I use a regular LCD?

I would like to put an LCD TV on my covered deck. It will be totally sheltered from rain, but must be able to withstand heat and cold. Would a regular LCD survive? I know they make TVs specifically for the outdoors, but they are 3-4 times the price. Also do you know if any major manufacturer makes an outdoor tv?
 
I doubt that the TV will be damaged if it is well sheltered. However, the TV screen may not operate if the temperature gets very cold (near freezing). Once it warms up, it will be ok.
