im looking for either a few plants or small shrubs to place along my driveway. lighting is not to good, and i live in chicago so i want something that will come back to life in the spring without replanting. PLEASE HELP!

I use to live in Ohio but in Texas so I can't remember all the good hardy plants that you can use there that are evergreen and schrub like but you guys have a lot more options that we do here in the HEAT! grrrrrrr
I'would go to Home Depot and there u will fine a good selection of outside good over all low maintance an cheap plants!

Not sure what your idea of small is...but you could do barberry. The Gold ring barberry is very pretty. It will come back. Also you could do Dwarf Winged Euyonomus aka Burning bush. THose are both very good choices for you and will bring you beautiful color to your drive way. Let me find you some pictures and links. Hope you like my ideas!!

Also...and of the low growing euonymus that are more like ground cover would look nice as well.

cotinus (smoke bush)is nice, lime green and a sort of very dark Burgundy colour are readily available. choicia is nice, green all year round and has a delicate white flower late spring. you will need to trim both these plants as they do grow reasonably big (not very fast )

buxus is another idea. this is very slow growing, green all year round and is excellent for topiary

decorative grass is the way to go for no-to very little maintenance they sell all kinds of colors and heights ,its inexpensive and hardy too!
