I am installing an outdoor GFI outlet and plan to come off of the wiring from an indoor outlet. What should this look like from the outdoor wall penetration. The outdoor outlet is planned only about 4' from where the indoor outlet, but I'm almost positive there will be a vertical stud in the way. Can I run the wire on the inside of the wall (through the stud) until I reach the desired location outside? Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

You can definitely drill a hole in the stud allowing the wire to pass through, considering you don't compromise the stud with a huge hole. There are weatherproof boxes designed to protect the outdoor junction, which can be mounted directly on the wall. It should look like a simple box on the exterior wall.

Might want to move it a little further away from inside outlet at least a foot tough drilling thru studs without taking the inside sheetrock down i do alot re-model projects and trust me if i had a choice id take new constuction everytime
