Out of these, which is best? The Dark Crystal or Labyrinth?

i have just watched both these films again, and i have to say that The Dark Crystal just pips it for me.

on dvd, despite being 27 years old, The Dark Crystal still looks fresh, and fantastic. i love the work of artist Brian Froud, and the film has his work stamped all over it. wonderful. i do hope they get round to making some kind of sequel or prequel as rumoured. using today's technology and animatronics, they could really make a fantastic follow up

i do like labyrinth, but bowie, and the song and dance numbers ruin it a bit for me

does anybody else like these films? which is your favourite?
 
The Dark Crystal - cos Labyrinth has naff singing in it and those weird creatures that take their heaRAB off. The main theme song of Labyrinth is very good. I think The Dark Crystal is a more mature sci-fi film, Labyrinth is more family orientated film.

A year or so ago there was a strong rumour going about of The Dark Crystal 2. I don't know if it will ever happen but it was mentioned.
 
Dark Crystal 2 is still in pre-production, I'm hoping it will be good Genndy Tartakovsky (creator of Samurai Jack) is doing it.

Torn between which two movies is the best though I love them both, and quite liked all the Bowie music in Labyrinth :o :p
 
Def "Dark Crystal", although I'm surprised "Legend" wasn't mentioned, as I always group these three together in my mind, as they're from a similar era. :)
 
Love both films, the Dark Crystal is more mature and dark although it is also pretty humourless.

The Labyrinth is lighter but a bit silly at times although i do enjoy the singing.

I'd have to say that I prefer the Dark Crystal just about but I do love the Labyrinth.
 
I saw Labyrinth again recently, was first time since I was a child, and couldn't believe how silly it was! Good fun, though David Bowie could have worn some better pants to hide his regions!
 
The Power Of The Dark Crystal, which is the proposed sequel, has gone through a lot of production changes. Afaik the script is there and everything, and they WERE going to make it old style with puppets like the original, but - surprise surprise - it's been changed to something more like a direct-to-DVD animation.
 
I was going to say I prefer the Labyrinth, but after reading some of these posts I think I may have watch the Dark Crystal again as havent seen it in ages due to my kiRAB thinking its boring.
I slightly remember seeing Dark Crystal at the cinema when it was released.
 
Labyrinth.

The Dark Crystal has a fantastic score, some chilling moments and some great cinematography.....but it lacks narrative flow and interest.

Labyrinth wins out forit's entertainment value.
