our dog, but...? ...my fiancee is a hard-core animal lover. He does not connect well with many people & his parents divorced when he was young, and he told me tonight that our dog was the 1 "constant" he had in his life, someone who was always there & never let him down. He is the kind of griever who just sits by himself, totally withdrawn, whereas I'm continually reaching out to family & friends. I don't understand his grieving style, & I just want to do what's best for him -- whatever that may be. Can someone with a similar grieving style help me? How do I approach him, what do I say and do?
