Municipalities typically assess values well below market prices, the two are really unrelated. Low assessments alleviate property owner complaints and the need to reassess.

Rely upon a good realtor to determine value for sale. Property may likely be reassessed after sale. In short, worth is not a function of property tax assessments.

get re assessed? So this is the situation. We have a lot somewhere that were going to be listing soon. But we have very intersted neigbors that want to buy it but they see that 13,000K is the cities assesment. When other comparables have sold for 20-30k. We bougght this lot very cheap actually...And when we bought few months ago..the same assesment is still the same. I think our names just transferred and so do we wait and get it reassessed or something?? Im really confused because our neighbors lots is smaller, and is saying its worth 26k...Does it depend how much you bought if for or something. PLUS our realtor suggested listing for 38k. Seems fair because of comparables.

So how is it our lot is bigger but assessed still at 13k when our neighbors lot is a lot smaller and worth 26k. Do we wait for re assessing it?
