Other riders' perception of Ducati riders...

I do like most Japanese sportbikes. The new ZX-6R and YZF-R6 are probably my favorites right now. I'm hardly snobbish, and I will answer questions about my bike without an air of snobbery or disrespect. But I have met a couple of these 'snobs' you speak of. You'd think that you'd find something in common with such folks because you both ride Ducs, but they tend to blow you off. I guess riding the so-called "Ferrari of motorcycles" forces that snob image on you.

Whats the comfort difference in the 848? I haven't ridden one yet but at 5 feet 7 I'm thinking is not going to be the most comfortable daily commuter. Am I right?

I'm 5'7 as well. It's pretty comfy for me. I put no weight on my wrists when I ride, and the riding position, which pitches you forward feels natural, at least to me. The only time I found discomfort was when I first got it. The suspension was sprung way too stiff for my 150 lbs. frame. But now, I got it set up for my weight and I can ride it all day. I think is the way you ride. Relax the grip on the bars and use your core muscles to for support, instead of using your hands and wrists. Use your wrists to support yourself, and you'll be feeling it when you get home.

Well...cannot say much in this case....I am 6'2" and I can feel the pressure on my wrists....but I take it like a real men...

But as I said...usually I take the CBR (or the car) for the commute...wanted to take the Duc on Wednesday but rather decided to sprain my ankle Tuesday night....so...now I can't get my foot into the boot....

In general though....I don't think that being 5'7", 6'2" or 7'5" makes much of an impact in terms of commuting....in my point of view at least....but as almazing said....make sure you get your suspension dialed in to your weight....

Yeah, Im 145 lbs myself. I will be looking at one next Saturday but I wont buy it untill next year. We got two months left of riding tops here in Iowa so there is no point in jumping in now. Maybe I should move to Texas so I can ride all year long lol.

+100 Trillion,

Dead on cduc

As for me, my motorcycles have always been used as my main mode of transportation, so safety is my number one priority. I have been told I ride like I'm on a cruiser, and I'm like "AND?!?"

I bought it and will enjoy it however I feel fit. I don't care how wide someone's chicken strips are and fuck anyone who wants to judge you because of it

chicken strips do tell a person..how they ride..like their style of riding..with chickenstrips> means you take it easy..or are cautious
which of course is a good thing...

but the lack of chicken strips will tell the looker exactly how much youre actually leaning the bike...like how loose you are ..or if you 'sports' ride it..you dont need to ride 'not safely' to be able to do this either..its confidence and knowing your machine...

which ever the case...its not really anyone elses business but yours....

doesnt matter what anyone thinks..

its your bike ...end of story..

dont know how u know what other people are thinking??

maybe a bit paranoid??

i dont get any of the feelings you describe when i meet other riders etc...i guess i dont really give a shit, and im female....even harley riders will come over and talk to me..i got no problem with them either...

the only time ive felt any negative feelings from riders regarding ducati..was when i was working in my partners ducati dealership...
there and only once.... i was treated extremely rudely by some 'ducati owners club' members....
\who just flat out thought that they knew everything and told us all so...and thought that their shit didnt stink...awful people

but this was only a couple of people..perhaps two..
in my entire ducati owning/riding experience of 20 something years

me thinks you worry too much!! and its distracting you from the really important stuff like riding your bike safely and being aware of the externals and variables that can cause you to have an accident .....
