I have GERD/reflux and Barrett's Esphagus and have taken Nexium with good results. Unfortnately my husband's COBRA coverage expires the end of June when we hit the 18-month maximum time limit. I have now discovered, to my horror, that one bottle of Nexium costs $208.00! The insurance policies I am researching on the open market that are in my price range don't provide prescription drug benefits. I have been paying $35 for the Nexium with my Cigna insurance so I need to find an acceptable OTC remedy for the near term (damn unemployment ). I am waiting to see my doc while I still have insurance and was thinking of asking him if he could give me samples but don't know how long I will need them. Any suggestions before I talk to the doc? It's times like this I wish I lived in Canada! LOL! :dizzy:

Prilosec OTC (or the storebrand generic) will do exactly the same job, and if you buy the generic, you can get a six week supply for about $20

Of course, tell your doctor that you're going to be making the switch.
