OTA fails

Anyone know why *228 would fail on an activated account?

I can make and recieve calls, text, and browse WAP. But whenever I *228 it sits there for a full minute until it times out, and tells me that my phone could not be programmed. I have the SID, MIN, and MDN all set correctly.

Yeah what kind of phone are you using? Flashed, or cricket branded? If you dont have one setting inputted correctly in the phone and the SPC isnt set to all Zero's the phone will not program over the air.

no, its a vx9900 and it used to work fine.

i've been using it for weeks. i DID however do some esn changing on another phone to test something, so I'm wondering if the duplicate ESN's screwed something up. I know that its not legal, but I had an old phone I needed to check something with.

The SPC is 000000 because I checked it on LG Download. Everything works fine. Just no *228 for some reason.

I really dont think that cloning the esn would screw up OTA. Unless your *228ing both phones at the same time. Also what market are you in? Cricket has been changing systems, doing upgrades, and messing with towers, so that could be one reason that OTA isnt working right now.

OTA has been up and down for the past week. Actually cricket's backend in general has had a lot of trouble since they put some changes in last tuesday.

The thing you need to change is the option for "Home Sys Registration" which is usually found in the advanced nam programming menu of the phone. For instance, I have a Samsung I730 on Cricket, and when I originally programmed it for use on Cricket, I had to manually enter my MID and MIN nurabers in, which I have found to be the case with newer samsung phones. I then had to go into the advanced Nam menu and change the option of CDMA home sys reg to no, and then did the *22804, and it worked. So, I accomplished all this without connecting the phone to the computer.

still having OTA fail on flashed phones.

now i get a "your phone can not be programmed" within about 10 seconRAB of the *228 call. I have checked all settings, changed the OTASP setting between enabled and disabled, all MIN/MDN/SID are set correctly.

Funny thing is, *228 used to work on my vx9900, now it fails, and also fails on my vx8550.

Huh is that just in your area? I just did a switch back and some razr's, did OTA and everything went through fine. Just tried my brothers EnV and *228 worked as well. Doing my Moto Q now, Yepp works on that too. All my flashed phones work on OTA perfectly fine. Which leaRAB me to think you have some settings wrong or your area is just messed up right now.
