OT to all you haters

To an extent. What if that person decides that most of his customers
don't like black people or Jews? Is it fine then for him to not hire
anyone who is black or Jewish? Perhaps an ad in the local paper:

Hiring now! No Blacks or Jews need apply! How well would that go over?

Perhaps his favorite customer hates anyone who isn't overweight. Would
it then be ok to disqualify anyone who isn't fat?

If someone has gone completely overboard on their appearance, like:

Then I could see them not being hired to be a beauty consultant at the
local spa.

There is a fine line between fair and unfair hiring practices. Those
which are unfair usually end up in a courtroom for a judge or jury to
decide.

I'm pretty sure that's what you're talking about.

Friendly to those in chat at the time, you mean. Warm and caring?
Not quite always.

Speaking as a semi-frequent chatter.

Sounds like you had a great time, but with us it sounds more like a cruise and

i am willing to bet you made the reservation and not a travel agent... and
yes they can and will charge your card for perceived damages... that dent in
the wall by the bathroom as you go in will be charged to your card as it has
been several times since it occured... and not one time in all the years we
have been travelling and in hotels all across the us, have they turned us
away when we offerred a couple hundred dollar deposit instead of a cc, also,
we have used the debit card when we were tired and he hadn't gone to an
atm... using the debit card is actually a saftey valve for hotels and car
rentals, the account it is tied to is kept with a small balance, so if they
try to charge it will bounce back, and if they are charging wrongly you
simply close the card, and they have to wait until its settled to get money
if its due... having said that we are boring people so don't get charged for
hotel damage.

and then charge for damages as they see fit, had a friend charged for cig
burns, this friend has never smoked and is a rabid anti smoker wouldn't
allow anyone to smoke in her car or a rental, they got her for six hundred
bucks for two small burns they said weren't there when she took the car...
took a while to get it sorted, and since we have discussed this among
ourselves she had photoed the car in and out so she eventually won but it
was a nightmare of paperwork and no matter what the cc cards say, they are
NOT helpful as they should be, bbtw they don't do anything but swipe the
debit either, Lee

(Shrug...) It's up to you. Carol (cshenk) has told you is OK in there, but
if you want to make your own decision based on what you've stated, that's
up to you.

No one is going to twist your arm to go in there.

Credit cards are a tool, and a very handy one at that. I like to
reserve hotel rooms and cars on occasion, too, I think it's difficult
to do if you don't have a credit card. My only balance is whatever
I've charged during the current month.
