If you've ever stayed at a Marriott this might be of interest to you. Seems the
company who looks after their email was hacked and their email file was stolen.
See the email below I just received.

Dear Marriott Customer,

We were recently notified by Epsilon, a marketing vendor used by Marriott
International, Inc. to manage customer emails, that an unauthorized third party
gained access to a number of Epsilon's accounts including Marriott's email
list.

In all likelihood, this will not impact you. However, we recommend that you
continue to be on the alert for spam emails requesting personal or sensitive
information. Please understand and be assured that Marriott does not send
emails requesting customers to verify personal information.

We take your privacy very seriously. Marriott has a long-standing commitment to
protecting the privacy of the personal information that our guests entrust to
us. We regret this has taken place and apologize for any inconvenience.

Please visit our FAQ to learn more.

Sincerely,

Marriott International, Inc.

Thanks for the info, I got word from Marriott but not a bank. I
changed my passwords with them just for chuckles.

Exactly, got warning emails from Kroger and U.S. Bank over the weekend
saying the outfit that handled such things got hacked.

Looks by the list I should be getting three more emails. The story says that
the company sends out 40 Billion emails a year, spam coming I'm thinking.

Yes Julie I know that, well I didn't know before 11AM, then I got four more
emails. Then I saw the story link, I read the story and realized many more were
involved.

But thanks anyway Julie.

I'm wondering if these companies are being completely truthful about just how
much info was taken when Epsilon (their email database) was hacked? Now usually
if I get a note from my credit card company, say Capital One for curiosity sake
it has my card number on it, did this company have card numbers as well?
