OT - Royal Wedding

Yes, the wedding. I don't watch morning television, and if I were
to, I certainly wouldn't watch US morning television when the local
stuff (excluding the Conservative Televisual Vortex channel) is
more informative, so I assumed you meant the fact that British
royal weddings start broadcasting at 2AM.

Not apologizing :-)

Rome had no effective competition, like China on its ass. I give
the US another ten years, tops. And I'm being generous.

Not my problem. We were part of a British colony by then and had
soundly rejected offers to join the revolting masses to the south
of us.

If it was a special about the royal wedding, I'd go along, but it's just
your everyday morning shows the people watch anyway, there are
more things than just that. They often have a lot of content I'm not
interested in, that's why I record and fast forward through it, as other
people do.

I do not know what the ratings are for dedicated Will & Kate movies
or shows, and they were put together in anticipation of interest. I
don't know anyone who is that into it, we were just talking about
that at Easter. Lots of coverage, no one into it.

Oh, Nancy, come join me at 4 am for crumpets and tea! I listened to my first
royal wedding -- Elizabeth and Phillip -- in 1948 on the radio in my dorm
room. Bless 'em all (some more than others, of course)!

There was a study a couple decades ago, though, that said people who
lived together before marriage had more divorces (percentages) than
those who didn't. One can hope that isn't true with this couple. And
yes, William is said to be crazy about babies, and she is 29 after
all. ;-)

Hey, why not, it's a free country. I don't think it's silly except

Neat. My paternal grandparents generation moved here from
Ireland, but none of them were Lords of anything. Heh.

They seem down to earth, to me. Better matched than some
marriages I've known.

Really. He seems determined to serve like many of the people

BBCAmerica is starting at 2 a.m., CDT, also. I think. I'll have to

My wife and I lived together for a while before we got married. We have

So 38 years ago (that would be 1973), there must have been some
social pressure on you to get married. You know the spiel: Can't
have children out of wedlock, who's going to buy the cow when they
get the milk for free, etc.

Thank the gods those days are over. You can just ignore those
voices in your head and the sky will not fall down.

It was making money for some businessmen. It was costing the British a
lot to defend it. When they levied taxes in order to pay for the cost

the Indians not to expand bast the Appalachians, or British plans to
eliminate slavery. Thank goodness they were able to convince everyone
that it was about getting rid of an oppressive monarchy and freedom for
all (white) men.
