OT: RFC used to Demo Software

There were a few years that you yourself would have made the top 10.
And anybody in the top 10 had time to write this little program, and
hundreds more just like in lieu of the time spent posting here.

You'd think they'd come up with a more useful program, like one that
automatically configures OE to render usenet posts with proper line
wrap lengths and quote attributes by default.

Yeah, but who cares? It's not like we're ranking who is in the top 10
schools. It's usenet. Who gives a crap who posts the most?

OB Food: Corn Doodle Burgers. An old recipe my mother found in some
woman's magazine before I was born.

1 can salmon, remove the bones (frankly I don't care if you remove the bones
or not; they're soft and they won't kill you)
1 c. corn chips, crushed
2 eggs, beaten
1 Tbs. grated onion
2 Tbs. sour cream
pepper

Drain salmon and mash it well. Add crushed corn chips, egg, sour cream,
onion and pepper. Mix well. Shape into flat patties. (Mixture will be
crumbly.) Brown in a little oil in a skillet until browned on both sides.
Makes 6 salmon patties.

If Outlook Express still existed (oh wait, it does if you have a PC runninng
Windows 98) OE Quotefix worked fine. Apparently the chaps who wrote that
app got bored. Never bothered to update it.

Canned salmon patties!!! Ewwww.....

When we were kids, Mom fixed canned salmon patties all the time. They
are the reason I never tasted a piece of fresh cooked salmon till I
was 32 yrs old. They still make me gag. 8P

I love creamed salmon on pattie shells. It was one of my favourite meals
when I was a kid. It was my meal of choice for birthday parties, and all
my friends seemed to like it too. It was usually served with french
fries and peas. It also works on toast.

You think OE died with W98?

Lots of people still run XP, which runs OE. There have been numerous OE
updates. That includes many people like me who rejected the Vista mess. It
was the original default mail/news ap. OE Quotefix needn't be referred to in
past tense either. It's the reason you see the lines quoted in your message
above.

I can just about guarantee that cradle Catholics from the 50s and 60s
have the same gag reflex as nb when confronted with canned salmon in
any form (and this goes double for my mother's green noodle tuna
casserole). Fridays were awful, but Lent was absolute torture as
mothers (and it was always mothers) across the land stared at the
backs of canned fish, reading recipes that would later be translated
into dinners for an ungrateful family.
