I don't remember that...now I have to rent the movie to find out what
gives. I saw the movie way back in the forties.

I took a girl to see a double feature. It was "Days of Wine and Roses"

If I'd had a gun, I'd have shot myself in the theater. After all these
years, I'm only mildly depressed and slowly getting better.

I absolutely HATED Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. I couldn't
emphasize with any of the characters. Maybe it was because I didn't
have any experience with alcoholics, but I didn't like the movie then
and I still don't like it today.

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

Alcoholism was only a weak factor in the scheme of things. The bickering
between the two main characters was their version of foreplay. The two
youngsters were mainly characterized by an eagerness to please, which in
turn was motivated by self-interest, but they failed to recognize that their
failure to stand up for themselves made things much, much worse for them.

I didn't like the movie very much, but it was pretty easy to write the term
paper.

Those were the movies that almost killed Hollywood, at least for a
long time. Who wants to pay to see that kinda sturm and drang when
life has plenty to offer on an everyday basis.

Maybe it was because the acting was so good the characters were
repugnant to you. I was only nineteen when I saw it, so had no life
experience to speak of. Still, that night as I walked out of the
theater, I told my buddy (I was in the service), Sandy Dennis and
Elizabeth Taylor are gonna win oscars for this movie, sure as water is
wet and the sun rises in the East.

It was years later when I saw Days of Wine and Roses on TV. More of
the same. Brilliant acting. Like Leonard says, though, I've never
seen those two movies again. I may be a curmudgeon, but I'm not
suicidal! ;)
