OT Music Crew: Best albums of 2008 thus far

i personally love the direction they went with the alchemy index. i still listen to illusion and artist almost every day, but have a lot of respect for them as a band after the alchemy index volumes. they are all well written and have some powerful lyrics in my opinion. the earth and air cd are definitely chill-out cRAB though

definitely worth checking out

Is that folk/black metal? Might have to check it out.

Upon further thought, I would have to add Origin - Antithesis, Moonsorrow - Tulimyrsky, and probably Krisiun - Southern Storm would be my favorites so far.

Is equilibrium like 30 for Ensiferum is at home is 20? Or something...well checking them out right now, will more than likely order this shit tomorrow ha ha, along with the Bloodbath CD, how tits is the new Psycroptic? Only heard Immortal Army of One and I liked it.

Protest the Hero - best metal cd of the year to date, by far

Bayside - what happened to the 'return to roots' album?

My Morning Jacket - pretty cool, but not Z

Murder by Death - incredible incredible, but why does he sound like Johnny Cash now?

Keith Caputo - this is fucking great, but not better than his last solo cd.

From First to Last - never thought i'd miss that fucking troll Sonny, but i do. even if the writing is better now.

The Classic Crime - a close 2nd, best overall cd (non-metal)Bayside - not really a return to roots as promised..but how often do people come through with that when they say it

The Human Abstract - is all i can possibly muster, after such an amazing debut cd.

Anberlin - bowthefuckdown, this solidifies them, as if cities already didn't.

Bleeding Through - brutal...didn't expect them to go in that direction, but its good for what it is.

Conor Oberst - may as well have been a Bright Eyes cd...but its still good writing, as per his usual

Jack's Mannequin - maybe i need more listens, but its nothing special to me, & i love his first with JM, & all of SoCo

Slipknot - what a pleasant surprise

Paulson - what the fuck happened

Staind - ...about right. they should probably stop making music soon, though Chapter V was pretty good.

Senses Fail - fucking great, good mix of everything they do well.

Underoath - godly, but nothing too different like we thought

Metallica - fair

Wolfron - increeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedible, but i want him to go back to making Daphne Loves Derby cd's.

Panic! at the Disco - not really sure what to say. it's ok

Death Cab For Cutie - good shit, but not plans

Weezer - this is good, i think. but the b-sides are better than the album songs. & no songs on it are better than 90% of Make Believe

I can say with certainty that the new Bloodbath is fucking brutal. some may not like it because it is darker and less melodic than NMF, but i think it is possibly the best they have done since Breeding Death/RTC

Yeah that's what I'm gonna' get, lately all I've been buying are old CD's, nothing really from 08, so that's why I didn't even pay attention to what was coming out this year, but yeah, I already checked out Equilibrium and I'm going to be ordering that next week, gotta' wait for Bloodbath, Enslaved and Psycroptic to released. You like Into Eternity? I need to pick up there latest.

I thought the new Into Eternity was somewhat mediocre compared to Buried in Oblivion. Not worth a purchase imo.

That band cycles through more new members than Menudo
