I enabled the voice command feature on my Mac and the elderly relative,
witnessing me talking to my computer, thought i had finally gone
completely round the bend when she saw & heard me, through an open door,
sitting in my arm chair, facing my desk, talking to my computer, and
that in the way one does, talk, to a compute, setting at a desk,
staring straight ahead and sharply speaking to thin air! apparently
"almost barking commands" to a blank wall.
I actually only came to know about it cause she was so concerned by the
sudden occurrence of the phenomena that she talked to a friend of mine
about it who then told me of her own concern.
I stopped using the voice commands not so much because it made the ER
think i was barking mad but rather because i had to train the thing to
my voice and remember the proper commands or use the mouse to look them
up, but rather more so because it seems very odd to me to talk to a machine.
Although some of the new voice activated writing software on the market
to day is again intriguing me. I think i speak better than i write.
Which, i know, isn't saying much, given how poorly i write anyway
